woo! time to invest in your brand! - investment will look different for everyone. maybe the investment is using your time to put in the work. maybe you’re looking for future investors or partners to work with you as you grow. follow the steps below to present your brand’s identity to the fullest by designing content to present. if you’re an aspiring graphic designer who hasn’t had a lot or any professional clients, you’ll build your portfolio to share with clients using this step.

  1. consider who you may be presenting your brand to, and how will it be presented? did you get a meeting for a 20-minute elevator pitch for future investors? maybe a slide show presentation is best? will you be cold contacting potential clients through email blasts? maybe you need a portfolio website showcasing your work? want to search for potential investors by going viral? make a video pitch for social media.

  2. after considering the above— decide on what you want to make to visually present your brand/business. making a slideshow? consider the pros and cons of which presentation application to use by checking out this video. thinking about using canva to present a pitch deck? online porfolio platform for designers? check out carrd (free one page websites builder, cooler than weebly or wix imo). watch this tutorial on how to create your portfolio on carrd.

  3. review this article to see what elements you should be presenting on, if presenting your brand to investors. if you’re a designer, read this article on how to craft a portfolio with little to no experience (you also could repeat steps 1-4 to create multiple sample brand designs to include in your portfolio).

  4. submit your presentation or portfolio to virginia union university’s design lab team for feedback by sending your designs to designlab@vuu.edu with “brand launcher” in the subject line. you will receive feedback and suggestions for improvement within 2 weeks and your work will be assessed using this rubric.
